CHARLOTTE, NC. – Want to join hundreds of other devoted yogis for an afternoon of down dogs, headstands and mountain poses to raise money for a children’s charity? Louie’s Kids organizers are readying for the first Yoga Marathon in Freedom Park in Charlotte, NC. This will be the 10th yoga marathon for Louie’s Kids, the 2nd in a city away from home.

The Louie’s Kids’ Yoga Marathon in Charlotte will benefit a Louie’s Kids’ Run Buddies program in Charlotte this fall. The latest initiative of Louie’s Kids, Run Buddies is an athletic mentorship program matching adults with young kid seeking a healthy lifestyle. Run Buddies works with kids who need an adult to join them and adults that want to share in their love of being active, to get outside and get fit.
“We have received such enormous response from the Charlotte Community after a recent article in the April 2011 issue of Runners World that we felt the need to bring this Yoga Marathon and Run Buddies Program to Charlotte,” explains Louis Yuhasz, founder of The Yoga Marathon and Louie’s Kids. “I am certain this inaugural marathon will be an extraordinary event for the Charlotte community as it has been in Charleston for the past eight years.”
Recently, Louie’s Kids hosted an inaugural Yoga Marathon in historic Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA. 100 people participated in the Savannah Yoga Marathon and the event raised $16,000, which will benefit Savannah-based COPE (Childhood Obesity Prevention and Education).
